Fernandez-Lopez, Alvaro, et al. "Mobile Learning Technology Based On Ios Devices To Support Students With Special Education Needs." Computers & Education 61.(2013): 77-90. ERIC. Web. 3 Mar. 2015.
For this source, I looked for articles that answered the question: what are the best technologies to assist students with special needs?
This article focused on discussing the best types of technology needed in order to adapt learning styles for students with special needs. These students need more attention and personalized education in order for them to be successful. The article also discussed a mobile learning software designed by the authors which focused on certain areas of special needs education. The software makes adaptations for four specific categories: visual, audio, mobility, and cognition. The developer used alternative teaching platforms in order to be able to comply with each individual child's needs. They designed the software for iOs devices so that it would be portable and manageable for educators. Focusing on adapting education techniques allowed the designers to create a software that would be helpful for students with special needs.
I really enjoyed reading this article because it informed of the specific ways special needs student need to be educated. I like the idea of incorporating technology into their education in order to make it easier for them and the teachers. It was nice to delve into what that technology actually entails. I was able to get a better understanding of how different things are for each individual student. I agree that technology and adaptive learning should be used in classrooms for children with special needs so that they can be successful.
This source coincides with my first source because of all the talk of adaptive learning. They both agree adaptive education is what needs to happen with special needs students in order for them to be successful. I think in a paper setting, I could use this source to support my first because of how much more detailed this source is with a specific technology.
Now that I've looked at specific technologies that benefit special needs students, I would like to look at a source that maybe sees the disadvantages of technology for those students. What are the disadvantages of technology in this type of classroom? How can they be improved? Why are they seen as disadvantages? Are they logistical or operational?
