What specifically are the corporations and the government not doing to motion the improvement of the condition of the environment?
What is the specific role of everyone in the issue of climate change; what are citizens, corporations, and the government doing or not doing?
Bierbaum, Rosina, et al. "A Comprehensive Review Of Climate Adaptation In The United States: More Than Before, But Less Than Needed." Mitigation & Adaptation Strategies For Global Change 18.3 (2013): 361-406. Environment Complete. Web. 9 Mar. 2015.
This source is where specific details and information can be found. This is a documentation of the action taken by federal, state, local, tribal, and religious authorities regarding action and inaction taken. The source claimed that there is action being taken to reduce the issues regarding climate change, however it is not enough action. Although this source appears to be relatively objective, it suggests that many of the actions taken by these officials are simply to promote the illusion of progress. Many of the policies appear vague and without any description of their true intent regarding solving the issue at hand.
This source has me asking what the purpose of many of these policies really are? There is a vast amount of vagueness. As the article focuses on more local systems of government, the policies enforced appear to be more explicit regarding action, however the federal level, which is arguably the most important piece, shows no specificity or anything that would suggest production on the front of climate change. It would help for me to do more digging on the specific policies. I would like to learn how successful they have been since they were enforced. It is interesting to finally encounter some sort of document that points towards the progress and lack of progress on the part of authority around the world.
Synthesis of this document is difficult seeing as it is a different style of documentation. Unlike the other sources that I have presented, this source is pure factual information. Although sources like this are not recommended, this one is absolutely necessary to examine the programs that the government has promoted and enforced. Other sources are argumentative, pointing fingers at the consumers or presenting solutions for the problem or providing the perspective of the corporations. This documentation leads directly to the process that the government has taken on the front of climate change. At this point is seems like every party is associated with the lack of motion that is taking place.
This source is groundbreaking and leads to a new window of opportunity in terms of understanding what the government has done. I simply want to look further into these programs that the government has initiated. I believe this is the key document in answering the question of what the balance is between who is responsible for the inaction regarding global warming. I am still wondering what other parties besides citizens, corporations, and the government could be responsible? How is everyone responsible and to what extent?
